Strand Shipping & Vertom join forces

While the Norwegians founded Strand Shipping in 1988, the Dutch already founded Vertom almost 50 years ago in 1974. At the time, Vertom was located in the Rotterdam port district only, employed 20 people and owned no more than three vessels. Both companies have shown significant growth in a turbulent market that has only really taken off in the last few years.

As a result of this commercial cooperation, Strand Shipping and the Vertom Group will be able to strengthen their impact on covering the Northern Europe shipping market even more by exchanging valuable knowledge and equipment. Both companies will be able to serve its customers with logistic solutions within the European and Scandinavian shipping market in a more efficient and competitive manner.

As a maritime service provider, the Vertom Group is also active as a shipping agent, offering a professional representation in all major European ports. Mo Shipping Agency AS, a sister company of Strand Shipping, offers agency services all along the Norwegian coast. Both companies will be expanding their business activities in the Scandinavian shipping market and invest to strengthening and optimizing its services.

The Vertom Group is one of the biggest owners within the European shortsea shipping segment, offering a variety of maritime services that assist the industry with logistic solutions. The Vertom Group currently operates a modern fleet of around 100 vessels in the range 1.500 to 10.000 DWAT.
